Innovative Airborne Particle Monitoring with Large Display

Airborne micro particles can be a significant health hazard in a workshop, making it crucial to maintain high ventilation standards. Monitoring their concentration is equally important, and a range of sensors is available to help ensure safety.
A recent project by WeSpeakEnglish has taken this concept further with a PM2.5 sensor that drives a large wall-mounted display. This setup provides clear visibility of current particle levels, eliminating uncertainty.
The standout feature of this project is a huge addressable LED seven-segment display PCB, which is paired with a small Seeed Studio Xiao board connected to the particle sensor. The software not only displays the particle count but also changes the display color as levels rise. Additionally, users can log readings via a USB connection that exposes a serial port.
This project is particularly useful in environments prone to high particle counts. However, the large seven-segment display, combined with an ESP32 board, could serve various other applications. While this air quality monitor is well-crafted, it is not the first of its kind, as similar devices have been developed previously.
