OpenAI Collaborates with Hacktron to Enhance Cybersecurity Measures
OpenAI has announced a partnership with Hacktron aimed at identifying vulnerabilities within its systems. Engineers from OpenAI will collaborate with Hacktron’s security researchers to focus on high-priority areas, particularly how OpenAI’s systems interact with third-party services.
As part of this collaboration, Hacktron will gain expanded access to OpenAI’s frontier models through Daybreak Red. This initiative is part of OpenAI’s broader effort to enhance cyber defense using advanced AI technologies while simultaneously addressing vulnerabilities in its own systems.
Earlier this week, OpenAI revealed that Cathedral’s researchers will join its teams in the upcoming security sprint. Additionally, OpenAI has increased its bug bounty rewards to incentivize independent researchers to uncover vulnerabilities that may not be detected through internal testing.
OpenAI became acquainted with Hacktron through its Security Bug Bounty program and was impressed by the significant vulnerabilities that Hacktron’s researchers have discovered and reported. Hacktron specializes in developing AI agents for code review, penetration testing, and red teaming, with research that has identified vulnerabilities in application interactions, cloud infrastructure, and identity systems.
The collaboration with Hacktron is particularly valuable as AI agents increasingly connect services in innovative ways. This partnership will enable OpenAI to conduct deeper testing of these connections and utilize the insights gained to strengthen its security measures.
OpenAI expresses gratitude to Hacktron and other independent researchers who dedicate their time to identifying and reporting security weaknesses, thereby enhancing the protection for all users.
