Gemini for Android rolls out side panel and settings redesign

24 October 2026 2 min read هدهد تك | Hudhud Tech

The Gemini app has rolled out redesigns of the side panel and settings on Android, following the Spark-to-Task update.

This revamp includes moving the search function to the top-right corner. The first item in the list remains New chat, while Library now appears next instead of being located near the bottom.

To reduce clutter in the navigation drawer while still allowing access to recent chats, Gemini displays only five items before utilizing a “More” option that expands the list upon tapping. With an AI Ultra subscription, the full list includes: New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems.

In addition to the side panel, the Gemini app is also revamping its settings. Preferences have been consolidated into a single page, moving away from the previous split between the account menu and “Gemini Settings.” The account menu is now solely for switching accounts, providing options for Feedback and Help.

The updated “Settings” page begins with Manage account and Usage limits. Under Preferences, users will find Notifications, Personal Intelligence, Avatar, Task settings, Theme (new), Skills, Voice, Media, Device controls, Cart and orders, and Gemini Notebook. There are two additional sections:

  • Data & privacy: Import memory, Contact info from your devices, Gemini Apps Activity, Your public links, and Privacy Help Hub.
  • Get support: Help, Report a problem, About, and Updates.

The updated side panel and settings were previously launched on iOS, macOS, and the web app last week with the introduction of Gemini 4 Argon. The new features are now widely available on Android following a server-side update.
