Meta’s Waddle World is a Tamagotchi-like AI pet app

Meta has introduced a new AI-powered pet-rearing game called Waddle World, which is currently available only in the Philippines. This app is reminiscent of classic virtual pet games like Tamagotchi.
In Waddle World, users hatch an egg to obtain a virtual pet, which requires care through feeding and play. Unique to this app, the pet can engage in conversations and create illustrated journal entries based on user interactions.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra shared links to the app’s listings on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, indicating that it became available in late September. Waddle World is described by Meta as a “daily journal disguised as a pet,” allowing users to write or dictate journal entries that the pet responds to with drawings.
The app features mini-games that enable users to earn points for purchasing food and toys for their pets. These mini-games include stacking grocery items on the pet’s head, catching falling stars while avoiding bombs, and spelling words from jumbled letters.
While the app’s limited availability raises questions, it may be part of a testing phase in the Philippines before a broader release. Meta has previously introduced features allowing users to design avatars and assign personalities to their AI companions.
At its Connect event in September, Meta also unveiled the Muse Charm, a physical device designed to serve as an AI companion. This egg-shaped device is intended to provide constant access to the user’s Muse avatar and is expected to be released in time for the holiday season in December.
