Portable Bluetooth speakers are among the most diverse product groups available today, coming in various shapes, sizes, and features. The CMF Speaker S stands out as a particularly interesting option at a price of €69. This compact speaker is worth discussing further.

There is no traditional unboxing experience for the CMF Speaker S, as it arrives in a simple box without any additional accessories.

As indicated by its name, the CMF Speaker S is a smaller variant in the lineup, with the larger CMF Speaker M available for €114, which offers double the power.

The Speaker S delivers 10W of sound through a 45mm driver, covering a frequency range from 70Hz to 20kHz. It features two passive radiators on either side to enhance bass performance.

CMF acknowledges that the design of the Speaker S is inspired by a milk carton, a detail noted by some attentive reviewers. The speaker is available in four colors: White, Red, Black, and Cyan, each featuring a unique rotating knob. The White and Red models have a lever-style rotary knob, while the Red and Cyan versions come with an X-shaped and ring-shaped knob, respectively.

The CMF Speaker S boasts a modular design. By unclipping the lock button on the back, users can exchange the knob or even the entire front between different speakers. However, this feature is only practical for those who own multiple CMF speakers, as the company does not sell the front plastic cover or knobs separately.

The knob serves multiple functions, which has become a tradition for CMF products. In this case, it controls volume, playback, and track navigation with a simple press, adding an engaging element to the speaker’s functionality.

In terms of sound quality, the 10W output provides ample volume. The soundstage is characterized as clear and midrange-focused, with a solid vocal presence and a clear emphasis on instruments. However, the bass response is lacking, which may be a drawback for those seeking a more robust low-end experience. While some users may find this acceptable, the absence of sufficient bass can detract from the overall listening experience, even with the Ultra Bass feature enabled.

Despite the bass limitations, the CMF Speaker S delivers a surprisingly large sound for its compact size. Its design and full dust and immersion resistance, rated at IP68, contribute to its appeal.

The CMF Speaker S is available for purchase directly from CMF in regions including Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and North America.
