Samsung’s Intelligent Eyewear Set for Mid-December Release in South Korea and the US

Samsung’s Intelligent Eyewear is anticipated to launch in mid-December, according to a report from South Korea. This follows an earlier claim that the glasses would debut in November, citing a Samsung official.

The initial release will be limited to South Korea and the United States, with Europe, China, and Japan excluded from this phase. Samsung aims to gauge the response in these two markets before considering a broader rollout.

This strategy mirrors the launch of the Galaxy XR headset, which debuted in the same two countries last October and only reached the UK in July this year. The pricing for the Intelligent Eyewear has yet to be determined.

The glasses operate on Android XR and are equipped with a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset. They feature no display but include a camera, microphones, and speakers, enabling functionalities such as real-time translation, voice navigation, and photo capture of documents or meetings, which are organized in the Notes app on a Galaxy phone.

Designed in collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, Samsung has showcased four styles of the glasses, two at Google I/O in May and two during its Galaxy Unpacked event. For those interested in a closer look, an eyes-on report is available.
