Inkanva Launches Solar-Powered ePaper Display for Art and Photos

The Inkanva is a new solar-powered ePaper display that allows users to showcase art and photos without relying on a charger. This innovative device is designed to provide a clean aesthetic for home decor.

Unlike traditional digital frames that require cables, the Inkanva operates solely on solar energy or indoor light. It is available in three sizes and features a screen that uses 48 base colors to create vibrant, paper-like images.

The company claims that its custom display algorithm enhances color accuracy and detail in the photos displayed. The flexible perovskite panel can charge using both sunlight and indoor lighting, making it versatile for various locations in the home.

For those concerned about light conditions, the Inkanva includes a built-in 5,000-mAh rechargeable battery that can last up to four months on a single charge when displaying one image per day.

The Inkanva supports multiple frame styles that can be attached to the aluminum frame without any tools. Users can upload up to 4,000 images for a slideshow display, managed through a browser without needing internet access.

Additionally, the device allows access to classic artworks from the cloud gallery and supports uploads from personal devices via a companion app. AI integration is also available, enabling users to command AI agents to display specific content, such as weather updates or personalized images.

The Inkanva offers three sizes: the 7.09-inch and 13.3-inch models feature a resolution of 1,200 x 1,600 pixels, while the larger 28.5-inch model boasts a resolution of 2,160 x 3,060 pixels. However, the largest model requires a power outlet and does not support solar charging.

The Inkanva is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, with prices starting at $159 for the 7.09-inch model, $349 for the 13.3-inch model, and $1,599 for the 28.5-inch model. The campaign has raised nearly $250,000 from over 570 backers.

If successful, shipping is expected to begin in December to select countries, with delivery costs calculated after the campaign ends.
