DIY SLAM Tracking Enhances Bigscreen Beyond VR Headset

31 October 2026 2 min read هدهد تك | Hudhud Tech

Prohurtz has introduced an add-on for the Bigscreen Beyond VR headset called BSB-SLAM, which incorporates SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) tracking. This add-on allows users to attach a sensor to the front of the headset, enabling full 3D tracking without the need for external base stations.

This modification does not make the headset wireless, as it still connects to a PC to function as a display. However, it frees users from the requirement of having base stations set up in their environment.

The solution involves adding an Xvisio XR50 board, a USB cable, and a 3D-printed mount to the headset. Users can operate the headset as usual, with additional software needed to utilize the sensor data instead of relying on base stations.

While the Xvisio XR50 sensor is relatively expensive, its lightweight design and capability to provide near real-time tracking data for headsets make it an intriguing option for DIY enthusiasts.

Prohurtz initially developed this idea in 2025, and it has now progressed to a point where users can easily order the necessary parts, print an adapter, and install the software package.

This is not Prohurtz’s first venture into VR hardware; the EyeTrackVR eye tracking add-on is also their creation, which combines off-the-shelf components into a practical DIY solution for virtual reality applications.
