Statik Launches USB-C Cable with Built-in Kickstand for Phones

Statik has unveiled the PowerStand, a USB-C cable designed with an integrated kickstand that enables users to prop up their phones while charging. This innovation addresses the common inconvenience of bulky chargers when traveling.
The PowerStand features a standard USB-C plug on one end and a right-angle plug on an extended base on the other. While it may appear slightly clunky when not in use, it proves functional once connected to a device. The angled USB-C plug and raised base facilitate easy connections, even with phone cases.
Two foldable feet extend from the base, allowing users to position their phones vertically for charging or horizontally for activities like watching videos. The design ensures stability, making it unlikely for the phone to tip over under normal conditions.
The cable is compatible with various phone cases, including those from Nomad and Peak Design, while still maintaining a secure fit on devices without cases. The feet lock into place effectively, balancing strength with ease of adjustment.
In terms of performance, the PowerStand is a robust 240W cable that supports USB 2.0 data transfer speeds and measures 6.6 feet in length. Its braided texture enhances durability, and the kickstand functionality can also be utilized with laptops.
Priced at $20, the PowerStand has quickly become a staple in many travel bags. Statik is also known for its magnetic cables that offer convenient storage by attaching to themselves.
Additionally, Statik offers the PowerPivot Pro, an all-in-one cable featuring USB-C and USB-A ends on one side and a rotating USB-C tip on the other. This design may be particularly useful in tight spaces, such as cars, although the author notes that having rotating tips on both ends would enhance its functionality.
The PowerPivot Pro is also available for $20, showcasing Statik’s commitment to providing practical and innovative charging solutions.
