Samsung Takes Aim at iPhone Duo’s ‘Crackgate’ in New Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ads

Samsung is openly criticizing the iPhone Duo’s troubled launch in its latest advertising campaign. The company highlights the device’s screen cracking issues, dubbed “crackgate,” while encouraging consumers to consider the Galaxy Z Fold 8 instead.

Following the release of Apple’s first foldable device, numerous users reported that their screens had cracked, with the damage occurring in a similar manner across multiple devices. This has raised concerns about a potential flaw in Apple’s hinge design.

Apple has begun replacing affected devices, but the situation serves as a stark reminder of the challenges associated with their inaugural foldable offering.

In an Instagram ad for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Samsung asserts that “folding is nothing new to us” and confidently states, “we know a thing or eight.” The ad directly invites viewers to “Switch to Galaxy Z Fold8,” featuring imagery of the iPhone Duo’s cracked screen.

Samsung Canada shared this ad, while Samsung Malaysia took a more humorous approach, stating, “Feeling a little FOMO seeing all this talk about durability… oops, we’ve just been busy folding and getting on with our day.”

Samsung Australia also joined in on the fun, posting about the sound of life when your screen remains intact while opening your phone.

Additionally, Samsung Saudi Arabia created a post that humorously places the iPhone Duo crack on a Galaxy Z Fold 8, only to reveal that it was just a wallpaper.

Samsung’s aggressive marketing strategy underscores its confidence in the durability of its foldable technology, especially in light of Apple’s recent difficulties.
