Apple Launches iOS 27.2 with New Siri Languages and Features for Messages

Apple has started rolling out iOS 27.2, marking the first major feature update since iOS 27 was released in September. This update is available for all iPhones running iOS 27, including the new iPhone Duo, alongside the launch of iPadOS 27.2. Key features include the addition of five new Siri AI languages, smart suggestions in Messages, and support for Apple Pencil on the iPhone Duo.
What’s New in iOS 27.2
The most significant enhancement in this update is Siri AI, which now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Siri can also remember past conversations, allowing users to ask about previously suggested restaurants. Additionally, it can pull personal context from photos in Messages, Calendar attendees, voicemails, and Safari history. A new Excluded Apps setting enables users to manage which apps Siri, Search, and suggestions can access.
In Messages, users will find context-aware suggestions that help turn chats into actionable items, such as adding dinner plans to Calendar or tracking packages. Apple Music has updated its icon to a black-and-white design, while Shared Albums in Photos now include caption editing and expiry reminders. Furthermore, Photos and Image Playground will tag AI-generated or heavily edited images with SynthID watermarks. Podcasts have reorganized their Home tab into sections for New Episodes and Continue Playing, and the Apple TV app has introduced household profiles. The Multiview feature on iPhone can now display up to four live sports streams, and Group FaceTime calls support Dual Capture.
iPhone Duo users receive two exclusive features: support for Apple Pencil (USB-C) on both displays and a new Edge Light feature that illuminates the screen to enhance visibility during video calls. The Home app has added optional controls for Lock After Closing and Door Left Open for compatible smart locks. Apple has also addressed over 160 security vulnerabilities in this update, making it advisable for users to install it promptly. To update, users can navigate to Settings > General > Software Update.
