The iQOO 16 and Xiaomi 18 Pro adopt different strategies in flagship smartphone design. The iQOO model emphasizes gaming, display speed, and battery endurance, while Xiaomi prioritizes photography, premium features, and everyday versatility. Both devices are equipped with powerful Snapdragon processors, but their distinctions go beyond mere performance.

The iQOO 16 features a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 × 3168 pixels and an impressive refresh rate of 165Hz, making it particularly appealing for gaming. In contrast, the Xiaomi 18 Pro sports a 6.4-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1120 × 2436 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. While Xiaomi’s display is adaptive, the iQOO’s higher resolution and faster refresh rate provide a significant advantage for gamers.

Major Features

Design and Display

The iQOO 16 combines an aluminum frame with a glass-fiber reinforced plastic or glass back, depending on the variant. Its IP68/IP69 protection provides an advantage against dust, immersion, and high-pressure water jets. The Xiaomi 18 Pro takes a more premium approach with Dragon Crystal Glass 3 on the front, an aluminum frame, and IP68 protection. Its secondary rear display also gives the design a functional distinction, allowing users to interact with information and frame selfies using the rear cameras.

Specifications Including Battery

The iQOO 16 runs Android 17 with OriginOS 7 and features the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. The Xiaomi 18 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and runs Android 17 with HyperOS 4. Both support UFS 4.1 storage, up to 16GB RAM, and configurations reaching 1TB. The iQOO’s higher-tier processor positioning makes it the more promising choice for demanding gaming and graphics-intensive workloads.

The iQOO 16 packs an 8,400mAh silicon-carbon battery, supported by 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 7,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi wins on wireless charging speed, but the iQOO’s larger battery gives it stronger endurance credentials.

Camera

The Xiaomi 18 Pro has a substantial advantage on paper with its 200MP main camera and advanced optical features. The iQOO 16 pairs a 50MP stabilised main camera with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens. While the iQOO’s setup is versatile, Xiaomi’s larger-resolution sensors offer greater potential for detailed images.

Pricing

The iQOO 16 is priced around $800 (₹83,000), while the Xiaomi 18 Pro is priced around $1,000 (₹1,20,000). This price difference reflects the different priorities of each device, with iQOO focusing on gaming performance and Xiaomi emphasizing its camera system and premium features.

The iQOO 16 appears to be the stronger value proposition for users seeking flagship-level speed and long battery life without a hefty price tag. The Xiaomi 18 Pro justifies its higher price through its advanced camera system and additional features, appealing more to photography enthusiasts.
