Sinomags Targets Robotics Growth with Upcoming IPO

20 October 2026 4 min read هدهد تك | Hudhud Tech

Sinomags is approaching a Hong Kong IPO, positioning itself as the leading magnetic sensor manufacturer in China and ranking tenth globally, with a 0.6% market share based on projected revenue for 2025, according to Frost & Sullivan data cited in the company’s post-hearing information pack, a draft listing document published in September.

The Anhui-based manufacturer published the document following its listing hearing. Its pitch to investors highlights a business model that integrates chip design, wafer manufacturing, and sensor modules across China and Germany, along with a recent shift to profitability.

The proposed listing aims to finance the expansion of precision sensors for applications in robotics and to upgrade the German manufacturing capabilities acquired five years ago. For Sinomags, becoming a more significant player globally will depend on leveraging its accumulated capabilities into a larger, more profitable business.

Magnetic sensors provide machines with critical information beyond visual data, measuring electrical currents, detecting positions, and tracking movements. For instance, a current sensor in a solar inverter monitors electricity flow, while a magnetic encoder in a robot joint determines the joint’s position and movement.

From Magnetic Research to Industrial Scale

Sinomags’ business model is built around meeting these requirements. Founded in Ningbo in 2013, the company was established by a team with expertise in magnetic materials and electronics research, led by Wang Jianguo. Early success in solar power and electric vehicles paved the way for volume growth, with current sensors projected to generate 82.6% of revenue by 2025.

Despite its overall market share, Sinomags holds stronger technology positions. It is second globally in tunnelling magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors with a 4.7% share and fourth in current sensors with 3.3%. TMR is part of a family of magnetoresistive technologies, known as xMR, which detect magnetic fields through changes in electrical resistance.

Acquisition of Sensitec

A pivotal moment for Sinomags came in 2021 with the acquisition of Germany’s Sensitec, founded in 1999. This acquisition brought expertise in precision magnetic sensing and wafer manufacturing, allowing Sinomags to connect sensor chip development with manufacturing processes and product packaging. Sensitec retained its name post-acquisition and incorporated Sinomags’ current-sensor portfolio into its European offerings.

Financial Growth and Challenges

The financial results indicate that the combined business is gaining momentum. Revenue increased from RMB594.2 million in 2023 to RMB845.3 million in 2025. A loss of RMB66.6 million turned into a profit of RMB9.9 million in 2024, followed by RMB52.6 million in 2025. In the first five months of 2026, profit reached RMB47.9 million on revenue of RMB418.7 million.

However, customer concentration poses a risk, as the five largest customers account for over half of revenue, with the largest contributing 26.2% in early 2026. Additionally, an ongoing intellectual property dispute with a Chinese competitor challenges 25 Sinomags patents, with some declared invalid.

Future Expansion Plans

Sinomags’ next phase will leverage its knowledge in a different revenue mix. The robotics sector demands precise measurements of position and movement, while AI infrastructure opens opportunities in power monitoring. The intended use of IPO proceeds underscores the robotics ambition, as Sinomags plans to establish a research and production base in Wuxi, with a designed annual capacity of 38 million high-precision magnetic sensors.

Construction began in the first half of 2026, with operations expected to commence in the first half of 2027. The new facility will enhance the company’s ability to serve robotics, automotive, and industrial applications. Additionally, Sinomags plans to upgrade its German wafer line from five-inch to eight-inch production, requiring fresh investment to enhance efficiency.

The upcoming Hong Kong IPO plays a crucial role in Sinomags’ growth strategy. The success of its factories, product adoption, and profit margins will ultimately determine how far its 0.6% market share can expand.
