Honor Watch 6 Review: A Smartwatch with Impressive Battery Life

Welcome to our Honor Watch 6 review. Our delay in publishing this review stems from extensive battery testing, as Honor claims this watch can last over a month on a single charge.
The standout feature of the Honor Watch 6 is its battery life, allowing users to charge the smartwatch once a month, closely resembling the convenience of a traditional watch. However, there is much more to this device than just its impressive battery.
A watch should be beautiful, functional, reliable, and affordable. The Honor Watch 6 comes remarkably close to being an ideal smartwatch. Let’s begin with the unboxing.
The watch includes a charging puck with a USB-A connection and two magnetic pins for alignment, ensuring quick charging.
Design and Display
The Honor Watch 6 features a classic design, available in Black or Brown. Our review unit is the black model, which has a glossy aluminum casing and a stainless steel bezel. The brown model, made entirely from stainless steel, pairs well with a brown leather strap.
This design includes separate lugs for the strap, a crown on the upper right, and an outer bezel with markings. The silver model’s bezel draws inspiration from vintage racing cars, while the black model’s bezel is inspired by supercar air ducts.
Weighing 41 grams without the strap, the Honor Watch 6 is noticeable on the wrist, while the brown model weighs 50 grams. The right side features two buttons: a rotating crown that serves as a pusher and a customizable shortcut button.
The watch fits comfortably, although it may be slightly bulky for those with slimmer wrists. The display is protected by scratch-resistant glass and remains resistant to scratches even after two months of use.
With a brightness rating of up to 3,000 nits, the screen remains usable in bright sunlight. An always-on mode is available for each watch face, and the display adjusts to ambient light conditions. The Watch 6 accommodates standard 22mm straps for customization.
Additionally, the watch features a speaker for Bluetooth calls and music playback, providing adequate sound quality for occasional use.
Interface and Watch Faces
The Honor Watch 6 operates on Honor’s MagicOS 10.0, mirroring the aesthetic of Honor smartphones with large semi-transparent UI elements. Users can adjust settings directly on the watch or via the Honor Health companion app, available on the Google Play Store.
Navigation is intuitive: swipe down for settings, swipe up for notifications, and swipe left or right to access widgets like activity and heart rate. Pressing the crown opens the app grid, which can be displayed as a list. The watch supports NFC payments through Fidesmo Pay, compatible with Visa and Mastercard in Europe, depending on bank support.
Wrist gestures allow users to control certain functions, but their reliability can be inconsistent. While the watch supports third-party faces, many preloaded options are digital, which may not suit the classic design.
Health and Fitness Tracking
The Honor Watch 6 features an upgraded Intelligent Sense System for tracking heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2), heart rate variability, stress, and sleep. It can monitor blood pressure trends using optical sensors.
Sleep tracking provides insights into sleep stages and breathing quality. During testing, the sleep data was consistent with my experiences.
The watch offers specialized tracking for badminton and football, alongside over 120 other sports modes. With dual-band GPS and advanced metrics, it serves as an excellent companion for runners and athletes.
Battery Life and Charging
The Honor Watch 6 is equipped with a 980mAh battery, rated for 35 days of long-endurance usage and 17 days of typical usage. In my experience, combining workouts and daily wear, the watch lasted an impressive 23 days before needing a recharge, which takes about an hour and a half.
Verdict
The Honor Watch 6 is a well-rounded smartwatch that ticks all the right boxes: stylish, well-made, affordable, and functional. Priced at €170 for the black model and €190 for the brown model, it stands out in the market.
While it excels in many areas, the watch’s size may not suit everyone, as it only comes in one size. Overall, the Honor Watch 6 is a compelling choice for anyone seeking a reliable smartwatch with exceptional battery life.
